Program Overview
The Asian Languages and Literatures program offers a Master of Arts degree in Japanese designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the literature and culture of Japan. The faculty’s diverse research specialties allow students to focus on a range of topics and periods, from the classical era to contemporary Japan, from a variety of disciplinary perspectives. Students are encouraged to continue developing their linguistic skills leading to opportunities for future careers in such fields as translation, journalism, teaching, business, and government. For those interested in an academic career, the curriculum also allows emphasis on more traditional literary and theoretical studies. |
