Institutional Review Board

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) for Human Subjects is a federally mandated committee that works to protect the rights and welfare of humans participating in research conducted by, or under the supervision of, University of Massachusetts Amherst faculty, staff, and students.  Reviews are conducted in accordance with federal and institutional regulations and policies.  Education and training in the protection of human research volunteers is required of all investigators who are engaged in the planning, conduct, or analysis of human subject research.  More information is available in the Human Research Protection Office located in the Research Administration Building, tel.
