Program Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Leadership and Management (HELM) is a 15-credit academic program focused on the study of leadership, management and organization in higher education with a focus on the intersection of theory and practice. The HELM Graduate Certificate is aimed at the many current and future leaders in higher education who would benefit from leadership training, as well as other individuals who do not need an advanced degree. Instruction is delivered using a blended course model that combines face-to-face instruction with online discussions and other activities.

Requirements
Admission: Students are required to have an earned bachelor's degree and applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.

Completion: The curriculum is composed of five courses:

  • EDUC 601A     Foundations of Higher Education
  • EDUC 674       Leading Higher Education
  • EDUC 621       Managing Higher Education
  • EDUC 689       The Academic Profession
  • EDUC 723       Organizing Higher Education
