Master of Finance in Alternative Investments

The Master of Finance in Alternative Investments (MFAI) program provides students an in-depth understanding of how to make effective financial analysis and investment decisions while managing risk across a broad array of asset classes such as hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, commodities, sustainable finance, real estate and more. The program bridges theory, real-time data analysis, computational skills, and ethical and professional standards while leveraging cutting-edge finance techniques and industry practices.

Isenberg has partnered with the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIA) and CAIA coursework has been incorporated in the MFAI curriculum.  MFAI graduates interested in CAIA certification will be able to skip the CAIA Level I Exam.

MFAI is a one-year, 10-course program. The program is designed for those with quantitative experience in subjects such as calculus and statistics, or a background in finance.

New cohorts begin each fall in Amherst, with application deadlines of February 1 (early action), April 1 (priority), and May 1 (extended for domestic students). For international students, the MFAI has achieved classification as a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) program.
