Labor Studies is an exciting field at the intersection of several disciplines. Contemporary society is confronted with a wide range of issues relating to work and labor. The rise of globalization, sweatshop labor in the United States and abroad, movements for pay equity and gender equality in the workplace, challenges of integrating work and family life, attacks on labor unions, and exploitation of immigrant labor are a few examples of topics explored in Labor Studies. The study of the economic, social, and political context that has shaped labor and the workplace, past and present, is also central to the field.
