Experiential Education: Internships, Practica, Community Service

Anthropology majors benefit by acquiring as much practical experience and high-impact learning in their majors as possible. The department actively supports and encourages students to do internships, carry out practica, participate in laboratory work and field schools, conduct collaborative research, and engage in community service learning and organizing opportunities. Such experiences help students to see what being an anthropologist is like and helps prepare them for employment or graduate study. Opportunities for this practical training are provided through coursework, are offered through departmental programs, and are negotiated with the help of the Undergraduate Program Director, the Chief Undergraduate Adviser, or the department’s Experiential Education Coordinator.
