Career and Field Experience Advising

Sixty-five percent of UMass students pursue experiential learning opportunities well before graduation.  These include completing an internship, co-op, research, study abroad, service learning, job shadowing or contributing to ongoing faculty research projects at this University or elsewhere.  Students are assisted by a network of resources tlearn how to apply for such positions, and for obtaining jobsearching skills to seek employment after graduation.  The College of Natural Sciences Career & Professional Development Center in Morrill II Room 321 (https://www.cns.umass.edu/advising/cns-career-center) provides science-focused one-on-one career advising, 24/7 online career resources, and workshops on career development topics such as targeted Resume and Cover Letter Writing, Career Fair Preparation, How to Search for an Internship or Job, self-promotion through LinkedIn and other social media, and Interview Preparation.  Field-specific job and internship Career Fairs are held year round, and daily walk-in resume reviews are provided by CNS Career Peer Advisors.  Students also enjoy exclusive access to Handshake (https://umass.joinhandshake.com), an online recruiting platform which includes acomprehensive database of jobs and internships, searchable by major and updated daily, as well as ongoing listings of Career Events and Fairs and Information Sessions.
