The Minor
The department offers an undergraduate minor in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology geared toward majors in the physical and life sciences. It requires successful completion of the following courses:
- BIOLOGY 151 Introductory Biology I
- BIOCHEM 285 Cellular & Molecular Biology
- BIOCHEM 423 General Biochemistry I
- BIOCHEM 424 General Biochemistry II
One of the following:
- BIOLOGY 283 General Genetics or
- ANIMLSCI 311 Animal Genetics or
- BIOCHEM 390G Molecular Genetics and Genomics.
BIOLOGY 151 is a prerequisite for BIOCHEM 285, which in turn is a prerequisite for the upper-level BIOCHEM courses. Grade requirements are as described for the Biochemistry major. Students are responsible for satisfying eligibility and course prerequisites. Students intending to complete a minor should meet with the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Departmental Chief Undergraduate Advisor.
