The Major
The Operations & Information Management (OIM) major provides an integrated view of operations and information management which gives our students a competitive advantage in the marketplace and meets the needs of the industry. The OIM curriculum prepares students to understand all facets of building and running a business. Among other topics, you'll learn about:
- Analytics & Visualization
- Demand Planning
- Database Systems
- Enterprise Systems & Business Processes
- Project Management
- Quality Assurance
- Supply Chain Management
- Transportation & Logistics
Graduates are troubleshooters, planners, mappers, taskmasters, and they know their data. Our degree program at Isenberg can prepare you to:
- Analyze data and make empirically-based recommendations to improve business performance
- Make decisions that impact the creation and delivery of goods and services
- Use technology-driven, process-oriented thinking to manage and improve business processes and operations
- Design and implement key improvements to create effective and efficient businesses across a variety of industries
Students majoring in Operations & Information Management may choose one of three concentrations. Many students elect to take courses in both operations management and information systems and, therefore, declare the Integrated Operations Management & Analytics track. Those students wishing to focus more heavily on information systems and analytics or supply chain management declare either the Information Systems & Analytics track or the Supply Chain Management track. The curriculum is flexible and includes courses that satisfy the Certificate in Business Analytics and the Information Technology Minor. OIM students may also earn an SAP Student Recognitions Award by completing three of the four courses supported by the SAP Business Suite: Business Processes and Enterprise Systems, Business Intelligence and Analytics, Information and Project Management, and Data Mining in Business.
