The Minor

The department offers an undergraduate minor in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology geared toward majors in the physical and life sciences. 

Requirements

  • BIOLOGY 151 Introductory Biology I
  • BIOCHEM 285 Cellular & Molecular Biology
  • BIOCHEM 423 General Biochemistry I
  • BIOCHEM 424 General Biochemistry II

One of the following:

  • BIOCHEM 311 Genetics or
  • BIOLOGY 311 General Genetics or
  • ANIMLSCI 311 Animal Genetics.

BIOLOGY 151 is a prerequisite for BIOCHEM 285, which in turn is a prerequisite for the upper-level BIOCHEM courses. Grade requirements are as described for the Biochemistry major. Students are responsible for satisfying eligibility and course prerequisites. Students intending to complete a minor should meet with the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Departmental Chief Undergraduate Advisor.
