The Field
Students admitted to the Informatics major learn to apply computing to solve real-world problems in diverse application domains that include health sciences, life sciences, social sciences, media, and business. Informatics students interact with faculty who are doing state-of-the-art interdisciplinary research in computing. Students graduating with an Informatics degree are well prepared to assume challenging professions in a wide range of industry sectors that depend on computing and information technology. They are also well qualified to continue their education at the graduate level in informatics or in an allied application domain.
