The UMass Labor Center offers undergraduate courses that are cross-listed as sociology electives. Our focus is on work and the labor movement, especially as they relate to issues of race, gender, immigration, and globalization. The Center sees the struggle for economic justice as inseparable from the fight for racial and gender equity.

A vibrant part of the sociology department, the Labor Center is also a research institute and graduate training program. The Center offers a Masters of Science in Labor Studies, which students can take as full-time residential students for one year or as part-time Union Leadership and Activism students over two-and-a-half years.
