The Field
Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) is so much more than just managing hotels and restaurants. Our program has an 85+ year history with strong roots in managing traditional HTM sectors (lodging, foodservice, events, clubs, casinos, tourism) as well as emerging and non-traditional sectors (real estate and investment, relationship management, information technology and AI, sales, marketing and social media, leading diverse global teams).
HTM students take the same core business classes as all Isenberg majors, and this provides a strong business foundation. HTM offers students an opportunity to build highly desirable skills: managing a diverse global workforce, teamwork, communication, relationship building, adaptability, critical thinking, and making a positive difference in people’s lives. What some industries call soft skills, we call vital skills. These are the skills that employers across all business are seeking. Students earning a degree in HTM have a huge advantage throughout their career and stand out on the job market because of the diversity of the people management skills and the toolkit this major provides.
