The Program

This academic credential may be earned by taking 15 credits from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture as follows:

Required Basic Course

• STOCKSCH 110 – Sustainable Horticulture – (3) Fall

Required Foundation Course- choose one of the following classes:

•  STOCKSCH 106 - Soil Science and Management (3) Summer and Fall
•  STOCKSCH 109 – Insects of Ornamentals (3) Coming Summer 2025
•  STOCKSCH 200 – Plant Propagation (3) Fall

Required Mid-Level Courses – choose remaining 9 credits from the following:

• STOCKSCH 210 – Retail Floral Design (3) Coming Fall 2024
• STOCKSCH 263 – Agricultural Leadership and Community Education (3) Spring
• STOCKSCH 315 – Greenhouse Management (4) Spring
• STOCKSCH 365 – Hydroponics (4) Fall
• STOCKSCH 386 – Sustainable Site Design and Planning (3) Fall
• STOCKSCH 255 – Herbaceous Plants (3) Coming Spring 2025

HOW TO ENROLL IN ONLINE COURSES

Courses may be substituted for the required courses by permission of the Online Program Coordinator.

Students must achieve a minimum C (2.0/4.0) average across all of the courses counting toward the certificate.

When you have completed 15 credits, please contact John Gerber to receive your Certificate.

Any courses taken for the Certificate may also be applied to our fully online 60-credit Associate of Sciences degree in Horticulture!
