Degrees: Bachelor of Science and Associate of Science

The Stockbridge School of Agriculture is an academic unit within the College of Natural Sciences that combines the close-knit environment of a school with the teaching, research, and Extension functions of a department. Programs are offered at the associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s (including an accelerated fifth-year MS), and PhD levels. Stockbridge also offers a robust portfolio of online degrees, certificates, and courses.

Stockbridge faculty contribute to interdisciplinary programs including Environmental Science and the School of Earth and Sustainability. The School currently offers two BS majors and five AS majors. We place an emphasis on experiential learning at the undergraduate level for resident students, with the Agricultural Learning Center, The UMass Student Farm, the Research & Extension Experience for Undergraduates program, permaculture plantings, and opportunities for laboratory and field research.

Our current two-year residential AS degrees are in Arboriculture and Community Forest Management, Landscape Contracting, Sustainable Food and Farming, Sustainable Horticulture, and Turfgrass Management. Our BS degrees are in Applied Plant and Soil Sciences and Sustainable Food & Farming. We also offer both the AS and BS degrees in Sustainable Food & Farming online, as well as Certificates in Horticulture, Arboriculture and Urban Forestry, and Sustainable Food & Farming.
