The Minors

The Classics department offers minors in four areas, all designed to acquaint the student with the most interesting facets of life in the ancient Mediterranean region. All classics minors require six courses with a minimum of 18 credit hours.

Students interested in a classics minor should consult with the Undergraduate Program Director.

Requirements

The Greek Minor

At least 18 credits, to include Greek 112, 122, 232, 242, Greek 310 or 320, and any other course within the Department. When offered, Greek 126 and 246 (Intensive Greek, 6cr. hrs. each) may be substituted for the non-intensive Greek sequence (Greek 112 and 122, and Greek 232 and 242).

The Latin Minor

At least 18 credits, to include Latin 110, 120, 230, 240 or Latin 126-246, Latin 310 or 320, and any other course within the Department.

The Classical Civilization Minor

At least 18 credits, to include one classics course at the 100 or 200 level (Classics 100, 102, 202 or 224 all are recommended), and any other Classics courses the student wishes. It is also possible to include Greek and Latin courses in the minor.

The Classical Archaeology Minor

At least 18 credits, to include Classics 103, one basic civilization course (Classics 100, 102, 200, 202 or 224), and either Classics 300 or 301. Students must also take three other Classics Archaeology courses numbered 300 or higher.
