Program Overview

The Ph.D. program in the Department of Biomedical Engineering is designed to emphasize experimental and computational approaches to solving problems at the intersection of engineering, biology, and medicine. Research projects generally fall into the areas of biomaterials, bioinstrumentation, and biomechanics. Current research areas include tissue engineering and regeneration, orthopaedic biomechanics, medical imaging, medical devices, biosensors, molecular therapies, therapeutic delivery, neuroengineering, and immunoengineering. Student dissertation research can focus on one of these areas or an area of mutual interest to the student and faculty.
