Master of Finance in Alternative Investments
The Master of Finance (MF) program provides students an in-depth understanding of how to make effective financial analysis and investment decisions while managing risk across a broad array of asset classes such as hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, commodities, sustainable finance, real estate and more. The program bridges theory, real-time data analysis, computational skills, and ethical and professional standards while leveraging the cutting-edge finance techniques and industry practices needed to succeed in the fast-growing, complex asset management industry. Students choose between two asset management specialty areas, Alternative Investments and Real Estate.
MF is a one-year, 10-course program. The program is designed for students with a quantitative background or interests in subjects such as economics, business, calculus, statistics, or including finance.
Isenberg has partnered with the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIA) and CAIA coursework has been incorporated in the Alternative Investments specialization curriculum. MF-AI graduates interested in CAIA certification will be able to skip the CAIA Level I Exam.
New cohorts begin each fall in Amherst, with application deadlines of February 1 (early action), April 1 (priority), and June 1 (extended for domestic students). For international students, the MF has achieved classification as a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) program.
