Accelerated Master of Science in Accounting Degree
UMass Amherst undergraduate students, and other Five College undergraduate students, are eligible to apply for the M.S. in Accounting (MSA) while still enrolled as an undergraduate student. The MSA can be completed in a 4+1 format, where students complete their undergraduate degree in 4 years and then complete the MSA program in one year. Once accepted into the MSA, students can take up to 4 MSA graduate courses (12 credits), while completing their undergraduate degree, and apply these courses towards the MSA degree requirements. This allows students to more easily complete the MSA requirements in one academic year, while pursuing internship opportunities. Current Five College students in their junior or senior year may apply to join the accelerated MSA program, and should consult the MSA admissions requirements.
The MSA degree offers a Professional Track for students with an undergraduate degree in accounting, and a Transitions Track for students who do not have an undergraduate degree in accounting. Students in both tracks can accelerate the MSA degree, taking MSA graduate courses while completing their undergraduate degree. Due to the additional coursework, students in the Transitions Track may require more than 1 year to complete the MSA degree.
